Proving that education can be fun, the Hong Kong International School celebrated its ruby anniversary with a bash
at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Peak was the official media partner for the gala dinner,
titled Our Brilliance Shines On, which saw more than 750 students, academic staff and VIPs come together in a
night of merriment. Cocktails were followed by a four-course dinner and an entertaining Bach to Rock performance by HKIS middle school students. A silent auction of items ranging from luxury handbags to golf retreats and rare wines, as well as a live auction of items such as a Fiji vacation and a 35-carat ruby necklace were well received.
Established 40 years ago, HKIS has come a long way since its early days when school premises were in leased residential buildings. Today, over 2,600 students and 480 faculty members and staff occupy two separate campuses in Repulse Bay.
