Hermes Creativity Revealed

Guests at a cocktail event hosted by The Peak and Hermes
enjoyed a rare glimpse into the world of exquisite Hermes
craftsmanship. The event was titled, “Sous le Signe de la
Main”, which means “Born under the Sign of the Hand” – a
reference to the extraordinary skills of Hermes artisans.
Six professionals from France provided guests with an
intimate insight into their specialities. Leather craftsman
Franck Lequet, for example, demonstrated some aspects of
creating a Hermes Birkin Bag, including saddle stitching,
beading and finishing the bag by hand.
The jewellery artisan works on a wax mould, sculpting it to
create the contours of Hermes jewellery; this remarkable skill
was displayed by Hermes artisan Bruno Aimes. Engraving the
designs and printing the famous Hermes scarves and ties also
requires special artistic techniques, as demonstrated by
Dominique Lambert, Oliver Robert, Fabrice Gerne and Ms
Laetitia Wassmuth.
It was a fascinating evening that provided everyone with an
‘up close and personal’ appreciation of the elaborate
processes involved in the creation of Hermes famous
designer products.

Macau.
MacauLand Developments and The Peak co-hosted a recent invitation-only cocktail affair. Guests of The Peak

Ladies' Pewter Making Experience (with Royal Selangor)

The Peak and Royal Selangor Pewter co-hosted a fascinating
workshop called ' The School of Hard Knocks' to share the
uniqueness of making fine pewterware with a distinguished
ladies' group. The ladies learned to create their own pewter
'masterpieces', following each step of the finishing process.
At the end of the workshop, each participant took home her
handmade creation, together with a personalized 'Apprentice
Certificate' and a school of hard knocks apron.
Afterwards, delicious Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine was
served at the nearby Peony-Jade Restaurant, where the
ladies enjoyed lunch in an elegant setting with a magnificent
view of the Singapore River. The full-course menu included
one of Peony-Jade's signature dishes - Smoked Duck with
Camphor Wood and Fragrant Tea Leaves.
