When Marilyn Monroe spoke the words “Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it” in her classic song Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend, she was probably praising the New York energy, spirit and movement, through which she lived up to all the glamour projected for her.

New York is the city you keep going back to for its unsurpassed style. And if you have that kind of metropolitan yearning, you can dip into the fine jewellery at Harry Winston Jewelers on Fifth Avenue.

Closer to home, you could pop into its store in The Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong.

Embracing New York in its heart, Harry Winston Jewelers recently introduced its latest series of astute designs, the New York Collection.

French brand Pylones was recently chosen as a collaboration partner by Hong Kong Polytechnic University to design the outer body of its latest innovation, the MyCar – a hybrid with a motorcycle engine that’s set for sale in Europe. But those who aren’t looking to own a car (or to live in Europe) anytime soon need not lose out on the fun of Pylones’ designs, which span a variety of practical products now available in Hong Kong through sole distributor Carsac.

From mugs, to pens, to mirrors, “colourful” and “vibrant” immediately spring to mind when one sees a typical Pylones product. Excellent gifts for the young and old and everyone in between, Pylones staples can be found at the Pylones shop in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Hundreds of little sparkling gems adorn the necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings of the Precioasmente Jewellery Collection by ARTÄ’. The various jewellery pieces in the collection, whose Spanish name means precious, have taken their cue from nature as well as monarchs whose romantic tales have galvanised many for decades on end.

While waterfalls, rainbows, flowers, birds and insects have inspired some pieces, other items reminisce the Duke of Windsor and Queen Elizabeth, according to ARTÄ’.

The jewellery pieces named Lágrimas include a necklace, (HK$22,800), earrings (HK$4,600), ring (HK$2,800) and bracelet (HK$5,300). Pear-shaped gems form the core in the pieces. The necklace alone is sculpted with 552 round-shaped white gems and seven lake blue pear-shaped gems.
