Rose petal baths, champagne soaks, milk tubs and chocolate wraps. For those happily hitched, or those that are merrily flying solo yet ready to unite, Valentine’s Day, love the idea or not, is but a moment to seek out the stimuli of candle-lit rooms filled with the scent of jasmine and sandalwood, scented oils, full body massages in private rooms, and facials. In these pages, we highlight a few luxurious havens where lovers will find balance for their mind, body and soul, unless of course, they have just declared their love for the planet.

Movie stars who walk the red carpet of the Palais de Festivals at Cannes where Chopard has been a partner for 12 years, glow in the limelight as they show off one-of-a-kind-jewellery – the Red Carpet collection.

At the Oscars, too, Chopard has adorned many stars, six of whom have won a Lead Actress or Supporting Actress award: Charlize Theron, Hilary Swank, Rachel Weisz, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet and Penelope Cruz. At the recent Golden Globes, some nominees wore Chopard earrings, necklaces and bracelets.

Encrusted with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds matched with quartz, coral, moonstone, chalcedony or opals, the Haute Joaillerie collection was first made four years ago and has since adorned stars including Cate Blanchett, Zhang Ziyi, Pénélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Charlize Theron, Marion Cotillard, Emmanuelle Béart, Isabelle Huppert, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, and Catherine Deneuve.

Almost 20 years ago, young Johnson Zhang was travelling in Europe when he passed by a suburb and watched an old couple driving a vintage Ferrari towards the horizon under the big blue sky. That was the moment he decided to own a Ferrari some day.

His dream came true last month. The 40-odd years old businessman was handed the key to a 458 Italia, an eight-cylinder two-seater berlinetta with a mid-rear mounted engine, and became the 999th Ferrari owner in China. “Ferrari is not only a car, but also a dream,” says Zhang, who works in the biochemistry industry. To mark the occasion, Ferrari gathered 15 of its classic models under Shanghai’s landmark Oriental Pearl Tower to give privileged guests an adrenaline rush.
