John O’Sullivan has been general manager of Four Seasons’ two Bali resorts in Jimbaran and Ubud for over five years. Unlike most of his industry counterparts, his poetry has also been featured at Ubud Writers and Readers Festival.

Why do you life living in Bali?
I love the people and the level of accessible spirituality that is literally waiting to be enjoyed. The weather, topography of the island and the overall "Imax-like” sensory feel you experience day-in, day-out re-shapes the manner in which you see and treat the world and its inhabitants.

Where else have you lived previously?
Cairo, San Diego (US), Jakarta, Abu Dhabi, the UK, Switzerland and Ireland. I found Cairo to be an amazing location as one of the ancient cradles of civilization. The city resonates at a frenetic pace with a level of accepted coexistence that I have never seen anywhere else in my life.

How does Bali compare with other resort destinations?
Everywhere is truly different.  I have travelled to 56 countries thus far in my life and what I have found that unites all of us is a desire for respect and dignity to be administered or accessed in as natural, transparent and sincere a manner as possible.

Life is an adventure. Places are the conduit to experiencing that adventure. The mind, heart and soul are the filters to deciding how much you are willing to enjoy it. Each place is a potential travel experience waiting to be hatched and shared.
High tea and gems

Businesswomen and other ladies gathered together for The Peak Afternoon Tea at Bunga Rampai fine-dining Indonesian restaurant, Central Jakarta, where they were treated to a display of Tiffany & Co jewellery, a fashion show, some music and an appearance by Putri Indonesia 2008. The event was hosted by Visa and Citibank.

Memorable night

Distinguished guests from a variety of industries took time off from their busy schedules to gather for a night of exquisite fine dining, with good company and soothing jazz making for a memorable occasion. The Visa Access Dinner Series are invitation-only events for a select group of Visa Card members.
