brief-atom.jpg Big boy's toy
These ultimate big boys' toys offer no false impressions of comfort or practicality. In fact, they have no roofs, windshields or doors to speak of. These cars are built for a single purpose: track day.

The latest to join the grid of purpose-built track cars is the Ariel Atom, which has few body panels – making do with only essential bits that aid in the machine's aerodynamics and maintaining its safety – and is otherwise naked.

While the racetrack version is ready for immediate orders, the local Ariel importer is working hard to make it legal for you to drive it to work.
brief-timepiece.jpg Got a million dollars to spare?
If the media is to be believed, wearing a watch that costs more than most people’s homes is just plain rude these days. But this recessionary backlash after years of in-your-face consumption hasn’t stopped luxury brands from launching timepieces that carry a six-figure price tag.

The latest to join this exclusive club is Hublot’s one million dollar Black Caviar Bang. Bearing the bulk of that watch’s hefty value is an obscene number of precision-cut black diamonds that adorn the piece.

If you’re still hesitant over forking over the million bucks, also know that you’re paying for something truly unique. There is exactly one piece of the Black Caviar Bang available. So don’t hesitate too long; sometimes you just can’t put a price on exclusivity.
brief-imperial.jpg An imperial holiday
Live like an emperor, or at least one of his guests, at Aman resort's latest property in China, just steps away from the historical Summer Palace. The resort is housed in buildings that were once used by guests awaiting audience with Empress Dowager Cixi. Carefully conserved and restored, guests at the palace resort will be treated to a juxtaposition of modern luxuries housed in historical structures dating back over a century.

Unlike the Empress Dowager's guests, modern-day visitors can choice from a wide variety of pampering options, including fine dining at the French Kaiseki restaurant, invigorating spa treatments, as well as grooming at its in-house kimrobinson hair salon.

Even if its rich history means nothing to you, this luxury resort is certainly as much a destination as its UNESCO World Heritage site neighbour.
