Chairing the office
Think of it as an investment. The new Embody chair from Herman Miller is both stylish and comfortable, giving your staff less reason to leave their desks to engage in time-wasting activities.
The Embody is the sequel to the iconic Aeron, which has been the mainstay of ergonomic chairs for the last fourteen years. But unlike the understated design of its predecessor, this latest offering would feel right at home on a Star Wars set.
The complex matrix of plastic supports provides suspension and support to its user through weight-sensitive technology. The seat and back surfaces both conform to body movements and distributes weight evenly, giving users optimal support.
And if you’re enlightened enough to worry about the environment, you will be happy to know that 95 per cent of the Embody is made of recyclable parts.
At $2,799, the Embody isn’t the cheapest chair in town, but let your auditors sit in one – and they’ll see why it’s worth every cent.

Time for Couture
Famed for dressing the feet of Hollywood’s elite with impeccable shoes, luxury fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo last year turned to adorning the wrist. The brand currently has six collections of watches inspired by the style of its iconic footwear.
Gancino, an elegant ladies timepiece recalls the gilt metal motif commonly found on its bags, while the case of the Vara watch draws from the signature Vara pumps with its grosgrain bow.
And the men are not left out. The round case of the Salvatore chronograph recalls the layered sole of the famed platform created in the 1930s, but is beefed up with a robust case with sub counters and a bezel in 18K rose gold. An alligator leather strap completes the piece.
This year, the brand has added two more collections — the Palagio series with a bejewelled ladies dress model and men’s chronograph, and the feminine Assoluto with its “8”a case on its side that is in fact, a double Gancino motif.
And since you already have the leather brogues and carryall, it won’t hurt getting a handsome watch to complete the outfit. The ‘Shoemaker to the Stars’ would have certainly given the thumbs up.

Virtual Realities
For almost two decades, Champagne house Krug has been collaborating with artists from around the world on a limited edition art and fashion publication.
The latest instalment of the Visionaire series pushes the boundary of paper craft with the Calvin Klein-inspired shoot of fashion photographer Mario Testino, to the tongue-in-cheek voyeuristic world of France’s Sophie Calle. Expect anything from a horde of cats that literally jump out of the page, a dizzying storm of spherical plates hovering over your fingers and even a champagne cork being popped with “foam” flowing on to the page.
In all, the Visionaire 55 Surprise, features 10 intricate 3D diaromas by famous artists and photographers such as Testino, Calle, Steven Meisel and Yayoi Kusama. One of Kusama’s works was recently sold by Christies New York for US$5.1 million (S$7.6 million), a record for a living female artist.
With only 4,000 copies available worldwide, 12 of which come with a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee, you can get a copy for $588 at the Ode to Art gallery at Raffles City Shopping Centre. It is bound to make a splash on your coffee table.
