Ramen aficionados can cut back on their trips to Japan now. Ippudo, the ramen emporium that has been satiating Japan since 1985, has opened an outlet here in Mandarin Gallery. It is only their second international venture, after New York. Its founder, Shigemi Kawahara, believes Singapore’s vibrant dining scene is the perfect platform for his foray into the Asian market.

Picking the ramen here is easy: You only have a few choices; staples of Ippudo’s repertoire. We suggest you gun for two bowls (skip your lunch) - the Shiromaru, the original tonkotsu (pork broth) with pork loin; and the Akamaru, a more robust version of the former. Bliss ensues.

Tel: 6235-2797, Ippudo does not take reservations
